This sultry, heat-laden syrah is a hike through a pine forest; leather, violets, bramble and berry fruit, savoury oak undertones and spice. City in the distance, 3ish in the afternoon, the chewy mugginess of the trees, earth, moisture and grit climbs up your nostrils as you make your ascent. The heat of the forest floor, and glimmers of strobing sunlight cooking your hiking boots as you wend your way along a barely gravelled path through blackberry and fennel.
